Made More Sure

The Lord is all about certainty. He is not the author of confusion or doubt (I Cor. 14:33; James 1:16, 17). To harbor doubts, to accept confusion, is to work against Him. Consider the Lord’s relief for our doubts:

1. For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh,
2. that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ,
3. in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, (Col. 2).

13. For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe, (I Thess. 2).

19. Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His,'' and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity,'' (II Tim. 2).

7. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
8. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God,
9. who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,
10. but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,
11. to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
12. For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day, (II Tim. 1).

19. We also have the prophetic word made more sure, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, (II Pet. 1).

To know that the word of God is trustworthy, that through it you can know God Himself - - His will for you, His heart for you, His desire for you and your certain future, is a boon and blessing beyond words. Don’t miss it for the world!
